2 nights 3 days (Itoigawa, Sado, Niigata edition).
This course focuses on Niigata’s treasures: Itoigawa’s Jade and Sado’s Gold Mine. A tour course where you can enter nationally designated areas requiring special permission and experience Japanese culture! (Furumachi geisha, taiko drum musical performance). A plan where you will be granted special permission to enter one of Japan’s national natural monuments, Kotakigawa Jade Gorge, and enter the rivers and on the banks to observe the jade. Furthermore, with the cooperation of Mr. Ito, who processes jade products in the Kotaki region, we will be holding a special jade processing experience at the processing plant, where you will be able to observe the process. We will also be offering a special package that includes a jade piece as a souvenir. This tour will demonstrate a unique tourism model that combines the protection and utilization of jade resources through Mr. Ito’s explanation of the lifestyle and culture, based on his jade business. In Sado City, you will enjoy a local dinner featuring locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Furthermore, you will enjoy a performance by Kodō, the world-renowned taiko drumming group based in Sado, in a training hall which is normally closed off from the public. In Niigata City, you can enjoy lunch in the normally inaccessible private areas of the wealthy farmer’s house in the Northern Culture Museum, where you can experience Niigata’s sake and the fermentation of miso first hand. You will also experience the kitamaebune (merchant ships that sailed between northern Japan and Osaka from the Edo period to the Meiji era) culture and Furumachi red light district.
